Then later that evening we visited my cousin Jessie in the rehabilitation center. Independence day is his favorite holiday so Laurie was planning on taking him outside in a wheelchair later that evening to watch all the fireworks in the area. They have a great view from the rehabilitation center. He was asleep while we were there (we always seem to visit him during his nap times) but then he woke up for a little bit at the end of our visit so we were able to get a picture with him with his eyes open (notice he is even looking right at the camera!). He told us, by blinking his eyes, that he was excited to watch the fireworks with his mom and that he was excited for his brother to come home from his mission in just 30 days! July 6, 2008
Independence Day
This year for the 4th of July we went to the Grand Parade here in Provo. This parade is kind of a big deal. Hundreds of people camp out the day before to reserve there spot on the side of the street for the parade. Instead, Nic and I rode the scooter over the morning of and found a great spot to watch the parade. We only got to see a small portion of the parade since Nic had to go to work but it was fun to see at least a little bit of it.

After we left the rehabilitation center we met up with our friends Jake and Katie to get some dinner at Pei Wei. Then we headed up to the West Jordan City Park to reserve a spot for us and Nic's family to watch the firework show. The firework show ended up getting delayed 40 minutes because the rodeo went extra long but it ended up being a pretty good show...we definitely had the best spot in the park!

I remember (kinda) watching the fireworks from the hospital for pioneer day. Well I remember it but if no one told me I would think it was like a dream. I hope you cousin is alright! I wanna know what happened...
I miss that parade. They don't have any parades here for the 4th. I was a little disappointed.
Sounds like you had a great 4th. I think parades are fun especially if they throw candy at the spectators!! Glad to see Jessie is progressing. He truly LOVES fireworks! I hope that gave him something to look forward to. Give him hugs for us!
