How I came to be...Kandis Kelly!

Last Wednesday Nic and I attended a free seminar at the Provo Marriott. As we were checking in there was another seminar happening across the hall. The girl from our seminar asked for our names as we checked in and a lady across the hall running the other seminar says, "Wait, what are your names?"

We told her that we were "Nic and Kandis." She thought that was so neat becuase her name was "Kandis" and her husband's name was "Nik."

I asked her how she spelled her name and she showed me her name tag and then I showed her my name tag and we spelled our names the same way! I thought that was neat because it is not a very common spelling. She was way excited and had to take a picture with this other "Nic and Kandis" couple. So we snapped a few shots just for the humor of it then chatted some more.

Kandis then proceeded to ask if we were married and I said "Yes."

"Well, what is your maiden name?" She asks.

"Kelly." I reply.

Kandis just about fell over when I told her that my maiden name is Kelly because her maiden name is Kelly. Just as I was thinking how wierd is that, I realized that this must be the lady that I was named after. My mom's two good friends and neighbors (Kristin & Kandis Kelly) that my mom grew up with in Portland Oregon. My mom had always loved their names and loved the way that they spelled their names. Oddly enough my mom ended up marrying a "Kelly" and decided that she HAD to name her daughters after her two good friends.

"I was named after you!" I told her.

"No way! Your mother is Linda Scott?!"

"Yes!"

It was all tears and laughter from there on out! I must say that I am truly honored to be named after her because she is the sweetest, cutest, most fun and energetic lady I have met. I can see why my mom and her were such good friends growing up.

What is even more neat is that Kandis and I look a lot alike (more narrow face with straight hair) and Kristin and Kristin look a lot alike (more round face with curly hair).

That is too funny. I can't believe you ran into your "name sister" I remember meeting Kristin back when Alexis got married and I agree how it is too funny that me and Kristin look alike and you and Kandis look more like one another. That is fun!

How cool is that? I was named after an ice skater on the movie Ice Castles, so I will never meet who I was named after.

That is too crazy!!! By the way your strawberry creations were awesome. That could totally fly, you could give Sherries Berries (sp?) a run for her money.
