This had to be recorded!

Nixon is a very smart kid and is always impressing me. But yesterday, he definitely "WOW'd" both Nic and I. Here is what happened...

Nic picked up Nixon from Nursery and brought him up to the YW's room to meet me so we could go home. The YW adviser had made a cake for the girls as kind of a little Valentine treat. So Nixon had walked in while we were all enjoying our cake and we offered Nixon some cake too and of course he accepted. As he is waiting for his cake he turns to me and says, "Mom, I made Hazel mad." (Hazel is his neighbor friend who is in his Nursery class as well.) I reply, "You did? What happened?" He then explains to me that he had taken a toy from her. And I said, "Oh yeah, I bet that made Hazel sad, huh?" "No mom, she was mad!" I begin to help Nixon eat his cake and we pack up and go home before he is finished with his cake so we take it home with us.

When we get home I sit Nixon down at the table to finish his cake and he mentions it again that he made Hazel mad. He begins to tell me that he feels really bad so I ask him if he said sorry to her and he said no. I asked him if he wanted to say sorry to her. And he said that he did. I asked him if that would make him feel better and he said yes. I had to hurry to a meeting after church but as soon as Nic finished his lunch he walked Nixon over to Hazel's house so that he could apologize.

When they got there Hazel and her brother Zach wanted to play with Nixon. Nixon did not get distracted at this point and did not get shy. He apologized to Hazel and said, "I'm sorry." Naturally, Hazel had forgotten about it so Nic prompted Nixon to explain why he was sorry. Nixon said, "I'm sorry I took the toy from you Hazel." Then Nic said, "What toy did you take from Hazel Nixon?" Then Nixon said, "I'm sorry I took the farm toy from you."

When they left, Nic said that Nixon was beaming. Nic asked him if he felt better now and he replied with a big loud "YES!" and continued to smile all the way home.

Nic and I could not be prouder of our son!

That is such a sweet story. You are very lucky. Ava and Jack constantly fight and take things from each other and they don't feel remorseful about it at all! Nixon has such a tender loving heart.

Wow, what a good little kid, with such good little parents!

Can Nixon come and teach Adam a few things in manners? How about tomorrow?

What a great story to record. That is so precious. I think that would make any mom and dad so proud...he is learning at such a young age to be tender to others feelings.
